Production - When Bad Things Happen to Good Actors

The Something New Drama Club is not your everyday "pay to play" children's production where you big bucks for your child to take a role as "tree #4! Our program focuses on developing the skills of the actor and exposing kids to all aspects of a theatrical production. This boutique style drama club is limited in number of participants and all shows presented are truly ensemble shows where your child will shine in the spotlight. While our shows are smaller in scale than many other programs out there, the experience that your child will have is second to none; and, the theatrical skills that they will develop are not found in other programs!
Our shows are all intimate plays that focus on truly diving into the characters, settings, time periods and relationships shown on the stage. The material and instruction challenges young actors to work to develop their craft. Through theatrical games, exercises, research and rehearsal participants learn both basic and advance acting technique all disguised as sessions of fun!
In addition, the participants handle all elements of the production, from acting to set design, sound to lighting.
In all aspects, participants are coached by working theatre professionals, SAG and AEA members and educators. Our goal is to help your child find their voice in the theatre in whatever capacity that may be.

THE TWYLIGHT ZONE : the 6th Dimension
By David Gallic
Comedy/Parody/Farce - Spring 2026
Limit - 15 each session
Ages 11+
(age acceptions CAN be made with prior approval)
You’re about to enter into another dimension; a dimension of spine-tingling, bladder-tickling twisted stories filled with secretive Martians, high-flying gremlins, ominous hitchhikers, and more terrifying tenants taking residence in...The Twylight Zone.
Episode One: The Hitchhiker - Nancy Adams is traveling cross-country, but everywhere she goes she sees the same creepy Hitchhiker.
Episode Two: Nightmare at 6,096 Meters - Bill Williams is about to take a flight he'll never forget. Is there really something on the wing of the plane or has he merely left the sanitarium too soon?
Episode Three: Will the Real Visitor Please Stand Up? - After a mysterious crashing noise, a small-town cop must deduce whether or not an alien is hiding amongst a group of passengers stuck inside a diner on a cold and snowy evening.
Episode Four: The Four of Us Are in Agonizing Pain - Archie is a cheap con man with a rare talent; he can change his face. But this talent could lead down a path of danger.
In the tradition of Airplane and Young Frankenstein, enjoy a comedic ride through four classic Twylight Zone episodes. Whether you're a die-hard fan of the original series or you've never heard the name Rod Serling in your life, there's fun and laughs for everyone in the 6th Dimension
When Bad Things Happen to Good Actors
By Ian McWethy & Jason Pizzarello
Comedy/Parody/Farce - Spring 2026
Limit - 15
Ages 9-11

A simple one-act production of The Wizard of Oz gets derailed by missed cues, forgotten lines, and a renegade sound board op who refuses to play anything but dinosaur noises. A comedy that proves, when it comes to live theatre, everything that can go wrong, will go wrong, and it will be hilarious.
This short comedy runs 30-40 minutes with PLENTY of meaty roles for the entire cast of young actors.

My daughter has learned so much at Something New Studio and accomplished more than I could have imagined! Jim and his team have stretched these kids imaginations further than I had thought possible. It's great to see their finished product and know that they 100% created it from nothing.
Mike, Mt. Dora
Kylie loved the weekly paint classes. Lindsey does an amazing job of making sure that each child is proud of their work and happy with the results! To top it off it is actually fun for the kids!
