Short Form Improv Camp

Improv is theater made up completely on the spot. No scripts. No lines. No teleprompters. Suggestions and volunteers from the audience are utilized by our performers to make up scenes and characters with no preparation and with hilarious results!  This program will help each student become more present, less self-conscious and will work towards desensitizing you to the fear of failing. Participants can expect to play lots of group games and to be exposed to basic improvised scenes. They will leave this camp feeling more confident and more empowered to break out of their shell.

Participants will be mentored by Something New Studio's professional Improv Actors.  And will present their own "Whose Line is it Anyway" style show on Saturday July 26th.

Theatrical Production Camps

Over the course of just two short weeks, participants will bring together a full length theatrical production. Participants work together not only performing the play but also taking full ownership of it - from set design to costuming to marketing participants learn just what it takes to put together a full theatrical experience.

The acting lessons that participants will learn will be deep. With a keen focus on developing their character we will explore in depth both Stanislavski and Meisner approaches to acting to truly develop each participant's skill.

As with all of our shows, these are true ensemble pieces giving each participant the chance to shine on stage. In addition, they will take great pride on show day knowing that they personally were involved in every aspect of the production from performance to set design!

In addition, participants will be mentored by working Actor's Equity and SAG professional actors and will learn what it takes to make it in the entertainment business.

Cooking Cam be (1).jpg

Arrogant James Casanova Valentino Bond is in the middle of judging a cooking contest when he (after a dramatic and quite theatrical death scene) falls over with a thud. It seems he's been unmercifully poisoned. Each contestant is suddenly a suspect with a motive for wanting this man dead. When Detective Biddle shows up out of nowhere, he begins his investigation immediately. As he questions the suspects, their stories come to life on stage thanks to a reenactment team that has been provided for entertainment value.

Once all the stories are told and the detective is ready to place his arrest, an unexpected suspect is brought to light and questioned as well. A guilty party is taken away, another murder occurs, which causes another detective to show up out of nowhere. Then he falls dead. A zany comedy chock full of puns, sight gags and ridiculous situations that one could only hope for in a parody murder mystery.
